Over the last few years, Liferay established its authority as the main Open Source Portal Server JSR 168-compliant. Aligned with the Service Oriented Architecture Specifications (SOA), integrated with OpenSSO, Liferay cooperates with standards like Shibboleth, Liberty Alliance, OpenID and CAS .

The applications developed on Liferay benefit from all the guarantees and the capabilities given by an enterprise portal server: Multi-Tier, limitless Clustering, High Avaibility, Page Caching, etc.

Ariadne has always been interested in the Open Source dynamics: that’s why its attention to the Liferay project since the beginning of the year 2007.

Having developed a wide experience on this product, in particular in the implementation of the multichannel Content Management System Ariadne Content Manager 5.0, Ariadne is finally able to qualify itself as a System Integrator.

Front End

Design and development of template and themes ( with XSL or Velocity) by professionals able to match the correct mix of technical competence and particular sensibility in web graphic design. The accessibility requirements to be compliant to the P. A. Portals are also considered.

Configuration

Configuration of Liferay Journal ( the simple Liferay CMS) and portals inner workings ( Company, Community, Users, Portlet etc..) are available to implement an easy point and click portal.

Portlet custom development

Ariadne has the experience in the design and development of originals portlets, using the framework guidelines, increasing the portlet library already available with the product or offered by the developers community.

Integration of Liferay-Alfresco

Deployment of the integration with the well-known Document Repository/ECM and solution of the related issues (users, browsing).

Complex Web pages with linked portlet

Design and development of portal pages where the linked portlets interact with each other in order to improve the usability of complex applications or integrations.

Integration with SOA

Integration of events and Liferay functions in SOA through the Service bus Mule, for example when Liferay has to be used in a context where an integration with MQSeries codes is required for financial and commercial transanctions.

Workflow

Customization of portal workflow processes or business applications integrated in Liferay, in JPDL format and supported by JBPM ( Jboss Business Process Manager)

Authetication and network identity

Integration of web users, of back office and integrated applications on LDAP with tools like open ID, Shibboleth federation and CAS Server.

Core System Extension

Modification of the core system either by following the development guidelines (development by extension) or radically through substantial modifications to the product. The most meaningful experience is the introduction of an advanced multi channels concept able to overcome the limitations due to the NON independence of portal architectures.

Installation of Liferay in Applications Server like Tomcat, Oracle AS, WebSphere, Glassfish.

Experience in deployment and sizing of high availability portal architectures based on Liferay with scalability requirements in order to support millions of pages per day.

Hosting and housing of web services based on Liferay applications through the Ariadne data centre in Milan, including system management and Service Level Agreements.

Applications and system management outsourcing of Liferay systems are installed at Customer data centre with specific service level agreement.
